Abstract:
In one or more aspects of the present disclosure, a mandrel (10) is disclosed. The mandrel (10) having a shape memory alloy (SMA) shell (103) having a longitudinal axis (L), an interior extending along the longitudinal axis (L) and an exterior contour, the SMA shell (103) being configured to interface with a structure (102) to be cured, and at least one SMA actuation member (104) disposed within the interior and connected to the SMA shell (103), where the at least one SMA actuation member (104) is configured to exert pressure against the SMA shell (103) effecting an interface pressure (P1, P2, P3) between the exterior contour of the SMA shell (103) and the structure (102) to be cured where the exterior contour has a predetermined actuated shape that corresponds to a predetermined cured shape of the structure (102) to be cured.
