Abstract:
The device has an inflatable airbag (3) and a transceiver (5) for electromagnetic waves cooperating with an interrogation unit (41) associated with the airbag and coupled to a passenger restraint evaluation unit (81), providing information for the deployment state and the deployment rate of the airbag and to an anti-theft evaluation unit (82) for evaluating the authorization and/or the relative spacing of a portable anti-theft unit (42), e.g. a chip card. An Independent claim for a combined passenger restraint and anti-theft method for an automobile is also included.
