Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wearable device which is worn on the feet and allows faster speeds, improved stability, and insulation from elements of a surface, such as a ground surface, traversed during the ambulatory motion.SOLUTION: A wearable device 1000 configured to selectively provide roller transportation includes: a shoe 1200 configured to at least partially accept a foot of a user of the wearable device, the shoe comprising a foot interface surface configured for selective contact with a bottom of the foot; a wheel assembly 1800 configured to selectively roll relative to a ground surface in response to rotation of at least a portion of the wheel assembly about an axle that is substantially coincident with an axis of rotation; and a frame 1400 connected between the shoe 1200 and the wheel assembly 1800, the frame 1400 being configured to selectively transfer forces between the shoe 1200 and the wheel assembly 1800, and the frame 1400 comprising a clearance plane vertically offset from the ground surface.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
