Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ER device having sensor function using liquid crystal which can micronize a whole machine.
SOLUTION: A window 6 using a glass electrode is formed in a part of a two-dimensional ER channel 2 of the liquid crystal, and polarizing films 2A, 2B, a very fine light source 3, and an image pickup element or a photoelectric element 4 are built in, thereby including the sensor function in the ER device itself. On the basis of information on brightness or the like from the image pickup device or the photoelectric element 4, a flow rate, further, a corresponding loading load, etc., are decided from an inspection curve which is previously obtained and stored in a flow rate calculating equipment 8.
