To provide an eraser which has a quite new design effect.

The eraser 1 includes a luster material-containing layer 2 containing a luster material 5, which, upon exposure to incident light, produces reflected light having a high level of brightness, and a main body layer 3 having the same composition as the conventional eraser. The eraser 1 is prepared by stacking the luster material-containing layer 2 on the upper and lower surface sides of the sheet-like main body layer 3 and integrating them with one another. Upon the entry of light into the eraser 1, the light is reflected from the luster material-containing layer 2 in its near-surface part and the luster material 5 located within the luster material-containing layer, whereby reflected light having a high level of brightness is provided.
