PURPOSE: To provide an ergonomically adjustable handle mechanism for cutting machine having a vertically reciprocating knife.

CONSTITUTION: The angle position of a handle 52 between a horizontal direction and a direction at a certain angle 58 thereto is adjusted so as to be easy to use and to reduce fatigue even in the case of long-time use so that productivity can be improved. A link 66 to attach the handle is pivotally attached to a block 64 fixedly fitted to a housing 22 for the machine. One pin 106 having an eccentric section fitted to a groove 102 of the link is provided and corresponding to the rotating position of this pin, the position of the handle is determined. One projection 138 is provided on the block, limits the turning motion of the link and operates to stop when the pin is disconnected.
