Title:
EROSION RESISTANT FORMED PRODUCT FOR HANDLING MOLTEN METAL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH04157060
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a formed product with sufficient erosion resistance at a low cost by forming the erosion resistant formed product for handling molten metal of Al, Mg, etc., of titanium or titanium base alloy raw material.

CONSTITUTION: The titanium or the titanium base alloy uses the general raw material on a market. In the case of being unnecessary to be high strength, the pure titanium is used, and on the contrary, in the case of being necessary to be the high strength, the high strength titanium represented by 6A1-4V and the balance Ti material is used. These raw materials are entirely unnecessary to execute surface treatment after forming as the parts, and even if this is directly dipped into the molten metal of Al or Mg, etc., or brought into contact with the above molten metal as it is, this displays the sufficient corrosion resistance. As this reason, it is estimated that oxide film is instantaneously formed on surface layer of the titanium as active metal or stabilized by alloying and is not eroded any further.
