PURPOSE: To enable error correction of small deterioration of reproduced picture quality by obtaining an interpolating sample from a line of one frame before a line in which an error occurred.
CONSTITUTION: The first sampling is made at higher frequency than Nyquist frequency, the second sampling that thins every one sample changing phase by 180° for one field, and recording is made at rate 1/2 of the first sampling rate. When reproducing, an error information signal is sent from an error decoder to a controlling circuit 64. Writing of data of a line in which an error occurred in a frame memory 56 is inhibited by the output of the circuit 64. Y component is composed from a line of one field before by switches 57 and 58 and a field selecting circuit 65. C component is composed from a line of one field before, and after phase inversion 66, added 61 with the Y component through a switch 67 to form an interpolating picture element, and the reproduced picture element and interpolating picture element are outputted through a switch 62.
