Abstract:
To disclose a method of decreasing error correction code data of an amount required for detecting and correcting errors in digital data and further of maintaining a capability of correcting errors in a large group of adjacent data.
Symbols, mathematically grouped for computing an error correction code, are spaced apart spatially or temporally. As a result, errors can be corrected easily by using only a one-dimensional error correction code, thereby eliminating the need for a two-dimensional product error correction codes and additional data overhead being necessarily added to a block by column ECC data.
