Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correct a code error without the use of an error correction code in an error correction device that is required for correcting an error in a coded digital signal for recording/reading/transmitting a digital signal to a medium or a transmission line for a digital system telephone set or a digital recording and reproducing device or the like.
SOLUTION: The error correction device is provided with a code string model 101 generator that generates a statistic probability model of a code string generated in advance by learning. A code string estimate device 102 calculates a probability when a code string is incident based on a model parameter M and obtains a code string with a highest probability as a code string not including any error by taking the input code string into account. Through the constitution above, it is possible to obtain a code string with a high incidence probability from the input code string and the error correction device is realized, in which the code string whose error is corrected is subject to maximum likelihood estimate without adding an error correction code to the input code string.
