To provide an error detecting device for injection characteristic data which detects an error in characteristic data showing injection characteristics of an injector and obtains correct characteristic data.
The error detecting device includes: an INJ-side memory 23a (injector-side storage means) provided to an injector 10, in which a characteristic data D2 indicative of injection characteristics of the fuel injector 10 is stored; and an ECU-side memory 31c (ECU-side storage means) provided to an ECU (Electronic Control Unit) 30 that controls an operation of the injector 10, in which a characteristic data identical to the characteristic data stored in the INJ-side memory 23a is stored. The INJ-side memory 23a further stores another characteristic data D3 that is identical to the characteristic data D2. The error detecting device compares three characteristic data stored in the INJ-side memory 23a and the ECU-side memory 31c to determine whether three characteristic data are identical to one another or not, whereby detects an error in the characteristic data D1, D2, D3.
