PURPOSE: To obtain a medicinal agent useful for suppressing erythropenia developed due to antineoplastic agent administration, radiotherapies or renal dysfunction, etc.
CONSTITUTION: This erythropenia suppressive agent contains, as active ingredient, a compound (salt) of formula [R1 is H or a (halogen-substituted) acyl; R2 is H, a lower alkyl, hydroxy(lower)alkyl, halogen or carboxyl; A is CH2, CO, C(=NOR4) (R3 is a lower alkyl), of formula II or of formula III ((m) is 0-2); R3 is a (halogen, OH, lower alkoxy, NO2, NH2 or acyl-amino-substituted) aryl or (lower alkyl, NH2, OH, or halo(lower)alkyl-substituted) nitrogen-contg. unsaturated heterocyclic group], e.g. 2-amino-5-(2-pyridylsulfinyl)thiazole. This compound not only suppresses erythropenia but also is effective for autoimmune thrombocytopenia.
