Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an escalator that enables a passenger's toe to be hardly pinched between a cleat and a riser.SOLUTION: In an escalator, a large number of footsteps continuously move in a staircase pattern, and treads of the footsteps assume a planar shape near an entrance. The escalator comprises a recess that is provided in the traveling-direction front part of the tread of the footstep, a movable plate that is rotatably attached to the recess, and a support plate that is provided in the traveling-direction rear part of the tread to lift the movable plate in an intermediate inclination part of the escalator.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
