PURPOSE: To provide a safe excalator capable of preventing any person from stepping on the outer deck of a deek board by srasping a moving handle by providing a plurality of stepping-in prevention arms in the moving direction of a step so as to extend from a step side to the upper part of the outer deck of a deck board.

CONSTITUTION: A plurality of stepping-in prevention arms 8 are attached to the outer peripheral part of a hand guide 4 in the moving direction of a step 1 so that these extend from the hand guide 4 to the upper part of an outer deck 2b. When a child steps in on the outer deck 2b from a boarding and alighting place, first he is brought into contact with the arm part of the stepping-in prevention arm 8 in the vicinity of the escaltor boarding and alighting place on the outer periphery of the hand deck 4 and thus his stepping-in is prevented. Further, if he tries to step up to the outer deck 2b going under this arm part and grasping a moving handle 6, he is brought into contact with the arm parts of the plurality of stepping-in prevention arms 8 attached by specified spaces in the moving direction of the step 1 one after the other and thereby his stepping-in is prevented.
