Abstract:

To provide a method capable of accurately estimating a road surface friction coefficient and a pneumatic tire capable of presuming the road surface friction coefficient even in a state such that a brake force is not applied to a tire.

A first sensing block 4H having a higher height than a surface of a tread 2 and a second sensing block 4L having a lower height than that are provided in a tread groove part 3 of a tire tread 2. Distortion gauges 5H, 5L are adhered to the first and second sensing blocks 4H, 4L and distortion levels of the two kinds of blocks 4H, 4L are measured. A road surface friction coefficient is presumed from a difference of the distortion levels.
