To find out a method for effectively utilizing an extract from a flower of Thea sinensis L. =Camellia sinensis (L.) O. Kuntze which is a plant of the genus Thea of the family Theaceae having high effectiveness and, on the other hand, to provide an effective and safe external preparation for skin and functional healthy food for diseases or trouble caused according to weakening of secretion of estrogen by aging.

It is found that the extract from the flower of the Thea sinensis L. =Camellia sinensis (L.) O. Kuntze which is the plant of the genus Thea of the family Theaceae has functions that have not hitherto been confirmed, i.e. estrogen-like actions. Furthermore, it is found that the extract is effective against various diseases or trouble caused by deterioration of estrogen secretion. Multilateral prophylaxis and amelioration of life style-related diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipemia and arteriosclerosis, autonomic dystonia, climacteric disturbance, skin trouble, wrinkles, sagging, etc., as the diseases or the trouble can be carried out.
