To obtain an ethylene copolymer having a uniform distribution of a comonomer unit along a polymer chain and a broad molecular weight distribution.
The ethylene copolymer is a copolymer of ethylene with at least one comonomer selected from (a) formula: CH2=CH-CH2R (wherein R is hydrogen or a linear, branched or cyclic 1-20C alkyl group), (b) a cycloolefin, and (c) a polyene with a content of ethylene units of between 80 and 99 mol% and a content of units derived from the α-olefin, the cycloolefin and/or the polyene comonomer of between 1 and 20 mol% and has (a) an eluted quantity equal to at least 90 wt.% copolymer within a temperature interval of less than 50°C by the TREF (temperature rising elution fractionation) analysis and (b) Mw/Mn>3 (wherein Mw is a weight-average molecular weight; and Mn is a number-average molecular weight, both determined by means of GPC).
