Title:
ETHYLENE REMOVING AGENT COMPOSED OF BROMINE ADDUCT OF POLYVINYLPYRIDINE N-OXIDE RESIN
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH05168919
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To rapidly remove ethylene of low concn. by using a bromine adduct of an N-oxide resin of a vinylpyridine homopolymer.

CONSTITUTION: Peracetic acid or a liquid mixture of acetic anhydride and hydrogen peroxide is added to and reacted with a vinylpyridine homopolymer or a copolymer or terpolymer of vinylpyridine, styrene or/and divinylbenzene within a chloroform solvent to synthesize a vinylpyridine N-oxide resin which is, in turn, treated within a bromine solution or a gaseous bromine phase. Subsequently, this resin is treated within a bromine solution or a gaseous bromine phase to add bromine to the resin. The addition degree of bromine is set to 0.05mol or more as a bromine molecule per a vinylpyridine N-oxide unit.
