Abstract:

NEW MATERIAL: Compounds of formula I [wherein R is formulas II-V; R1 is a phenyl capable of having a substituent (a halogen, alkyl, alkoxy, etc.), dihalophenyl, (halogen) furyl, (halogen) thienyl; R2 is H, a halogen, NH2; R3, R5, R7 are phenyl which can be mono- or di-substituted with a halogen, (halogen) furyl, (halogen thienyl; R4, R6 are H, amino; R8 is H, an alkyl] and their acid addition salts.

EXAMPLE: N-(2-Aminoethyl)-5-phenyl-4-thiazolecarboxamide.

USE: A monoamine oxidase inhibitor with low toxicity, useful for therapy for depression and dysgnosia.

PROCESS: For example, a compound of formula VI, in the form of free acid or a reactive functional derivative, is reacted with ethylenediamine to obtain the compound of the formula I.
