To provide a method for evaluating hair growth accelerating activity with respect to a substance to be examined, a method (screening method) for searching a novel trichogen using the evaluation method to acquire the same and a use of substance, the hair growth accelerating activity of which is evaluated by the evaluation method, as a trichogeneous agent.
The hair growth accelerating activity of the substance is evaluated using a method having a process (1) of percutaneously administering the substance to be examined to a non-human animal to measure the activity of the skin artery sympathetic nerve of the non-human animal and, if necessary, further a process (2) of determinig that the substance to be examined has the hair growth accelerating activity in the case where the activity of the skin artery sympathetic nerve of the non-human animal to which the substance to be examined is administered becomes lower than the activity of the skin artery sympathetic nerve of the non-human animal to which the substance to be examined is not administered. By this method, hair growth accelerating activity is recognized with respect to linanol, geraniol, citral, citral dimethyl acetal, -terpineol and terpine-4-ol.
