PURPOSE: To provide the safety mechanism capable of corresponding to both open failure and totally closed failure in an evaporated fuel recovery device formed to purge a canister by letting evaporated fuel generated from a fuel tank be sucked to the canister and supplying the fuel sucked to the canister into the intake system of an internal combustion engine.
CONSTITUTION: In an evaporated fuel recovery device, a purge passage 3 for leading fuel sucked to a canister 1 into the intake system 2 of an internal combustion engine is provided with a valve device 4 for controlling fuel supply quantity to the intake system. There are further provided a failure detecting means 5 for detecting the failure of the valve device 4, a second purge passage 6 for communicating the intake system 2 with the canister 1, and a passage switching means 7 for switching fuel flow from the purge passage 3 to the second purge passage 6 at the time of detecting the failure of the valve device by the failure detecting means 5.
