Abstract:
PURPOSE: To improve durability and combustion efficiency by a method wherein a supporting body for accommodating a fuel absorbing body in such a condition that the body is not directly exposed to a combustion chamber is provided and vaporized fuel from the absorbing body and combustion air from an air chamber are mixed in a mixing passage so that the mixture thereof is ejected into the combustion chamber from ejecting holes provided on a mixing pipe.
CONSTITUTION: Ring-shaped fuel absorbing bodies 34 comprising porous ceramic or metal are stored in a supporting body 32 in a closed state. Fuel evaporated from the fuel contained in the bodies 34 is introduced into a mixing passage 50 being an internal space of a mixing pipe 48 via a first evaporation port 44, equalizing chamber 24, and second evaporating port 54. In the passage 50 in the pipe 48, combustion air and evaporated fuel are mixed together. At this moment, since the combustion air is introduced into the passage 50 in a swirling state, the combustion air and the evaporated fuel are mixed in a good state. The mixture having been sufficiently mixed in the pipe 48 is ejected radially into the combustion chamber 46 from ejecting holes 52 formed on the pipe 48.
