Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide the titled conditioner composed of a water-soluble copolymer obtained by copolymerizing a sulfoalkyl (meth)acrylate monomer and a (meth)acrylic acid monomer at a specific ratio, and suitable as a stabilizing liquid for the excavation of earth, e.g. the foundation work of civil engineering, the boring of an oil well, etc.

CONSTITUTION: The objective conditioner is composed of a water-soluble copolymer having a number-average molecular weight of 150,000W2,000,000 and obtained by the copolymerization of a monomer mixture of (A) 1W40(mol)% sulfoalkyl (meth)acrylate monomer of formula I (R1 is H or methyl; R2 is -CH2-CH2-, -CH2CH2CH2-, group of formula II or formula III; X is H, Na, K, or NH4) (e.g. 2-sulfoethyl acrylate) and (B) 60W99% (meth)acrylic acid monomer of formula IV (e.g. sodium acrylate).
