PURPOSE: To provide an excess weld metal height gauge capable of providing a highly precise measurement result never influenced the skillfulness of a worker with extremely easy ropes even in a welding part having a curvature, and a method for measuring an excess weld metal height using this gauge.

CONSTITUTION: An excess weld metal height gauge has a gauge body 11 having foot parts 11a, 11b, a slide gauge 12 provided in such a manner as to be capable of sliding on the gauge body 11, and a scale 3 for displaying the relative positional dimension in the sliding direction, and a scribing line 4. Consequently, both the foot parts 11a, 11b make contact with a base metal 5 in two points A, B to stabilize and uniform the posture of the gauge body 11 at measurement, and a precise excess weld metal height can be provided.
