To exchange a tire while restricting operation interruption of a rotary kiln to the minimum by disposing a new tire to be exchanged on an outer periphery of a shell in a divided state thereof, and assembling and welding the same.
The figure illustrates a state where a divided ring 2 transported and carried in at an installation position of a kiln is disposed on an outer peripheral surface of a shell 6, and is assembled with a tightening bolt through a bracket 5. Thereupon, a damaged kiln tire of a kiln shell 1 is already demounted, and the carried divided ring 2 is disposed away from a specific position where the tire is mounted. A roller 8 supports the weight of the tentatively assembled tire 1 and places and rotates the tire so as to ensure rotation of the tire 1 upon later joint welding. When the tire is assembled at a position separated from a specific position 7, a gap enabling joint welding is provided between the assembled tire 1 and the shell 6.
