Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain an exciter of a synchronous machine which has high reliability by discriminating the DC output overcurrent of a normal thyristor rectifier and a defect of a thyristor or a DC shortcircuit in the field of the machine under the melting condition of a current limiting fuse in a normal thyristor rectifier. CONSTITUTION:When a thyristor of a normal thyristor rectifier 4-1 is shortcircuited during a normal operation, a current limiting fuse is melted to output a defect signal 4a. Thus, a keep relay 22 is operated, and an exciting current is supplied from a standby thyristor rectifier 4-2 to a field winding 2 of a synchronous machine 1. When a DC shortcircuit occurs in the field of the machine 1 during normal operation, an overcurrent detector 13 is first operated to output an overcurrent signal 13a, the current limiting fuse is then melted to output a defect signal 4a. Thus, an open command 11a is applied to the breaker 3 to stop operating of the machine 1.
