Abstract:
PURPOSE:To keep the level low of heat generated by a generator rotor by a method wherein an exciting winding for normal temperature use is provided in addition to an exciting winding for cyogenic use and the latter is supplied with a steady exciting current while the former is supplied with an exciting current representing the difference from the steady one. CONSTITUTION:A generator 1 is provided with a first exciting winding 71 designed for cryogenic use and a second exciting winding 72 designed for normal temperature use thermally isolated from the first winding 71. The first winding 71 is supplied by a DC converter 61 with a current that occurpies the most of the current under normal conditions and the second winding 72 is supplied by a DC converter 62 with a current representing the difference from the current under normal conditions. This keeps low the level of heat generated by a rotor and allows the speed of change to increase through reducing the time constant of the second winding 72.
