This excreta processing device 20 comprises a filth tank 21 connected to the diaper cup 1 to suck and store excreta in the diaper cup 1, a negative pressure suction means 22 to generate negative pressure to suck excreta from the diaper cup 1 into the filth tank 21, and a capacitance type proximity sensor 10 to detect if filth including excreta exists or not. The capacitance type proximity sensor 10 comprises a structure surrounding a part of a detection electrode DP other than a detection surface with a grounding electrode SP. It is thus formed to be so compact and thin as to be easily attached to the diaper cup to correctly detect if filth including excreta exists or not without causing breakage of parts if static discharge occurs at the part other than the detection surface, or causing malfunction when a portable telephone is approached.
