Abstract:

To calculate the amount of exhaust gas sucked into a combustion chamber during an intake stroke as the amount of exhaust gas circulated.

The amount of gas sucked into the combustion chamber during the intake stroke is calculated as the amount of gas sucked based on a variation in pressure in the combustion chamber during a compression stroke from predetermined first timing to predetermined second timing and temperature of gas in the combustion chamber at the second timing. Air volume sucked into the combustion chamber during the intake stroke is calculated as intake air volume. The amount of exhaust gas circulated is calculated based on the amount of gas sucked and intake air volume.
