Abstract:
PURPOSE: To purify a transpiration gas effectively by arranging a switching valve and a supply pipe for supplying the transpiration gas in a canister to the upper stream of the oxidizing catalyst of an exhaust pipe and the switching valve for supplying a secondary air in the upper stream of the oxidizing catalyst.
CONSTITUTION: A three-way catalyst 30 and an oxidizing catalyst 51 are installed in the exhaust pipe 29 of the combustion gas of an engine 10. A front O2 sensor 32 is installed in front of the catalyst 30, 51 and a rear O2 sensor 50 in rear thereof. An engine control unit 26 controls an air-fuel ratio by the output of respectively O2 sensors 32, 50. A switching valve and a supply pipe 52 for supplying the transpiration gas in canister 35 to the upper stream of the oxidized catalyst 51 of the exhaust pipe 29 are provided. A switching valve 57 and an intake pipe 59 for supplying secondary air in the upper stream of the oxidized catalyst 51 are provided. When the transpiration gas and the secondary air are supplied to the exhaust pipe 29, the air-fuel ratio is feedback- controlled by only the detection result of the front O2 sensor 32.
