Title:
EXHAUST EMISSION CONTROL DEVICE OF ENGINE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2000008836
Kind Code:
A

To prevent unburnt hydrocarbon from a combustion chamber from being emitted into the atmosphere after an engine is stopped.

An exhaust controlling catalyst 7 and a first adsorbing member 8 on its upstream side are interposed in an exhaust path 6, and a second adsorbing member 10 is connected to the upstream side of the first adsorbing member 8 of the exhaust path 6 through a branch passage 9. Valve means 131, 132 to selectively communicate an upstream exhaust path part 6a upstream of a branch part of the branch passage 9 with the first adsorbing member 8 or the second adsorbing member 10 are provided, and the upstream exhaust passage part 6a is communicated with the second adsorbing member 10 only when an engine is stopped. A canister 12 to adsorb an evaporated fuel from a fuel tank 11 is concurrently used for the second adsorbing member 10.
