To provide a technique for improving fuel economy by making a fuel added to suppress deposits formed around the injection port of a fuel adding valve work on a filter in the exhaust emission control device for an internal combustion engine.
This exhaust emission control device is provided with the filter arranged in an exhaust passage, the fuel adding valve arranged in the exhaust passage on the upstream side of the filter to add the fuel into the exhaust, and a PM regeneration control means raising the temperature of the filter by adding the fuel into the exhaust from the fuel adding valve to remove PM from the filter. In order to prevent the deposits from being formed around the injection port injecting the fuel of the fuel adding valve, a fuel adding control means (S104) executing the PM regeneration control means is provided.
