PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To supply a fuel additive to an engine or a particulate filter with good responsiveness.SOLUTION: In an exhaust emission control device of an internal combustion engine, a particulate filter 24 for collecting particulate materials included in an exhaust gas is disposed in an engine exhaust passage. A fuel is supplied to a fuel injection valve 3 for supplying the fuel to a combustion chamber 2 through a fuel supply passage FF. The exhaust emission control device includes an additive supply device 30 which supplies a fuel additive for promoting oxidation of the particulate materials. The additive supply device is connected with the fuel supply passage to add the fuel additive to the fuel.
