Title:
EXHAUST GAS CATALYTIC CONVERTER FOR VEHICLE OR THE LIKE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3720392
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide an exhaust gas catalytic converter having flexibility and keeping homogeneous exhaust gas flow.
CONSTITUTION: An exhaust gas converter with an orientated substrate structure 10 for causing catalytic reaction to a material contains a layer 13 with parallel channels. The layer 13 is substantially parallel to the main flow direction 15 of the exhaust gas. A cross section of the substrate structure 10 along the main flow direction 15 has an at least partly variable shape. The channels has a 10-70° angle to the main flow direction 15 and the channels in the adjacent layer 13 are open towards each other and cross each other. The exhaust gas converter enables its shape to be adapted to the conditions of small space.
