Abstract:
To provide an exhaust gas cleaning apparatus of an engine, capable of suppressing a rise in back pressure though a carrier having fine cells is used.
The exhaust gas cleaning apparatus of an engine is equipped with a carrier 1 formed into a honeycomb structure having a large number of cells 7, or the like, set to the almost same size and catalyst layers 2 and 3 which are applied and formed on the surface of the carrier 1 and contain a catalyst component for cleaning the exhaust gas and a Ce component being an oxygen occluding material. The flow channel cross-sectional area of one cell of the carrier 1 is set to 0.9 mm2 or less and the Ce component is added to the catalyst layers 2 and 3 in the form of a Ce-Pr composite oxide powder.
