The exhaust gas cleaning catalyst provided in a flow path of an exhaust from a lean-burn engine and cleaning exhaust gas is constituted of a base, a carrier composed of a porous oxide formed into the laminar shape on the surface of the base, a precious metal and an NOx occlusion material carried on the carrier and a coated layer composed of at least one kind of titania and silica coating the surface of the carrier on a position located at least on the downstream side of the exhaust gas.
