To provide an exhaust gas cleaning filter for a diesel engine in which pressure drop is low and breakage due to heat can be prevented, and which contributes to excellent gas mileage.
This exhaust gas cleaning filter 1 cleans particulate-containing exhaust gas 9 discharged from a diesel engine. The filter 1 has a base material 20 forming a lot of cells 10 with a polygonal lattice-like porous partition wall 2 disposed therein and extending in an axial direction. In the filter 1, downstream ends 10 of cells serving as introducing passages 11 introducing the exhaust gas 9 and upstream ends of the cells serving as discharge passages 12 discharging the exhaust gas 9 passing through the porous partition wall 2 are plugged with plugs 3. In the exhaust gas cleaning filter 1, when the thickness of the partition wall 2 of the base material 20 is assumed to be t mm and the cell pitch p mm, t and p are in the following relations: 0.35≤t≤0.51, 1.6≤p≤1.8, and t/p2 ≥0.03.
