Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain a heat insulating refractory material coating prevented from being easily damaged, by equipping a metallic layer by surface reaction on the internal surface of a metallic exhaust pipe line member and forming a coating layer of heat insulating refractory material. CONSTITUTION:A cast iron made manifold 1, being cooled after it is held being heated, forms an oxidized film layer 2 on an internal surface brought into contact with exhaust gas and this layer applies a water glass 3 further with an alumina dust 4 adhering as a heat insulating refractory material. Subsequently, the manifold forms the first layer by holding the layer 2 to be heated. Hereafter, the alumina dust adheres by applying again the water glass. Here the dust adheres to a thickness of about 2mm. In this way, the molded insulating layer, even if it is dried and heated, is prevented from generating a crack and exfoliation.
