To provide a catalyst for treating exhaust having excellent thermal durability.
The catalyst for cleaning exhaust is comprised of rhodium particles 1 having catalytic activity, chemical compound particles 2 formed on the circumferences of the rhodium particles 1 in a manner supporting the rhodium particles 1, and an oxide 3 that is formed on the circumferences of the chemical compound particles 2 and suppresses the coagulation of the chemical compound particles 2. It is preferable that the mean diameter of the primary particles of the oxide 3 is greater than the mean mesopore diameter of an aggregate of the chemical compound particles 2 and the rhodium particles 1 exclusively contact the chemical compound particles 2 without contacting the oxide 3.
