Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust gas purification catalyst having purification ability equal to or more than that of noble metals, and being formed of a relatively inexpensive material.SOLUTION: An exhaust gas purification catalyst is formed of CuO, and uses a (110) surface or a (002) surface on which a ratio of oxygen atoms is low. Function for exchanging electrons between an exhaust gas substance and the catalyst is improved. As surface oxygen removal treatment for reducing the ratio of oxygen atoms on the surface, plasma radiation treatment and electric field application treatment are used.
