To provide a reforming catalyst with excellent reaction efficiency and a catalyst for cleaning an exhaust gas using this.
The reforming catalyst has a substrate; a whisker formed on a surface of the substrate; and a catalyst component carried on one or both surfaces of the substrate and the whisker. The substrate contains one or both of an alloy containing manganese and ceramics, and the whisker contains manganese oxide. The catalyst component contains platinum, palladium, rhodium, iridium, gold, tin, iron or copper and an elements relating to an optional combination of these. The catalyst for cleaning the exhaust gas uses the reforming catalyst. The reforming catalyst is arranged in an exhaust gas flow passage.
