Abstract:
PURPOSE:To reduce NOx content of exhaust gas with high effieiency even when the exhaust temp. of engine is low and also decrease HC and CO. CONSTITUTION:An exhaust gas purification device for engine is composed of a NOx catalyst 18 fixed to the exhaust pipe 12 of the engine 10, a nozzle 16 which is installd upstream from the catalyst 18 in the exhaust gas passage and jets a hydrocarbon series reducing agent 27 to the catlyst 18, and a reducing agent supplying means 26 which supplies the reducing agent 27 to the nozzle 16. The arrangement is further equipped with a first oxidation catalyst 13, which is fixed upstream the nozzle 16 about the exhaust gas and oxidizes the NOx in the exhaust gas, and a second oxidation catalyst 21 which is provided downstream from the catalyst 18 in the exhaust gas passage and oxidizes the HC and CO in the exhaust gas.
