Abstract:

To provide an exhaust emission control device of an internal combustion engine capable of properly prohibiting regeneration of a filter on the basis of an estimated particulate deposit quantity, by confirmably accurately estimating the deposit quantity of particulates deposited on a filter.

As indicated in Fig. 1, this exhaust emission control device has the filter 11 for collecting the particulates in exhaust gas, filter regenerating means 6 and 2 for regenerating the filter 11 when the particulate deposit quantity DPFPM estimated by first deposit quantity estimating means 20 and 2 reaches a predetermined first threshold value PMSLMT1, and filter regeneration prohibiting means 6 and 2 for prohibiting regeneration of the filter 11 when a particulate deposit quantity DPFMSS estimated by second deposit quantity estimating means 22 and 2 is a predetermined second threshold value PMSLMT2 or more larger than the first threshold value in response to differential pressure DP between the upstream and downstream sides of the filter 11 detected by a differential pressure sensor 22 when an engine speed of the internal combustion engine 3 is increased to a predetermined engine speed NECHK.
