Abstract:

To retain the purifying performance of exhaust gas in a good state for a long period of time by effectively preventing the heat deterioration of catalyst active species composed of palladium oxide.

An exhaust purifying catalyst is provided on an exhaust system of an engine, and an HC adsorbent layer 3 with a number of pores is formed on a catalyst carrier 1 composed of a monolithic carrier. Co-catalysts 4 composed of serium oxide and catalyst active species 5 composed of palladium oxide 6 to which rhodium oxide 7 is added are carried on the HC adsorbent layer 3.
