Abstract:
PURPOSE:To reduce the burnt remnant at both end parts of a diesel particulate filter to the minimum at the time of regenerating process. CONSTITUTION:Such a diesel particulate filter is employed, as which having a low back pressure on the outer layer side thereof, and a high back pressure on the inner layer side thereof. For example, such components are used as a diesel particulate filter 5 having air holes which become smaller gradually across a range from the first carrier 51 on the outer layer side to the first carrier 52 on the inner layer side, or a diesel particulate filter 10 whose cell diameter becomes larger gradually across a range from the first carrier 11 on the outer layer side to the second carrier 12 on the inner layer side. (the cell number par unit area becomes smaller gradually.)
