Title:
EXHAUST GAS PURIFYING DEVICE FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH05296035
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To enhance exhaust gas purifying performance with respect to the exhaust gas purifying device for an internal combustion engine provided with an afterburner in its exhaust system. CONSTITUTION:A bubbling chamber (hereinafter referred to as a chamber) 33 that extracts a low boiling point constituent whose ignitability and combustibility are good out of fuel (gasoline) is provided, and a fuel supply system 31 and an air supply system 32 that are forked from the fuel supply system 2 and the air intake system 3 of an internal combustion engine 1 are respectively connected to the chamber. The air supply system 32 is further forked on the way and a secondary air line 42 provided with a temperature-sensitive regulating valve 40 is connected to an afterburner 18. And a fuel-air mixture supply line 34 that conveys the low boiling point constituent of the fuel produced inside the chamber 33 is provided. In the afterburner 18, hydrocarbon in exhaust gas is certainly burnt and oxidized by the positive burning of the low boiling point constituent diluted to a nearly theoretical air-fuel ratio by secondary air from the secondary air line 42, and exhaust gas purifying performance is enhanced.
