Title:
EXHAUST GAS REACTOR FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5313018
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
The silencer of an engine exhaust is designed with baffle plates that are assembled with suitable clearances to allow for thermal expansion without constraint so as to minimise noise and damage. The hollow cylindrical shape of the silencer is formed by an outer metal sleeve and an inner sleeve with intermediate packing. Exhaust gases from the inlet are passed over convex baffle plates to an outlet. Three baffle plates in line are arranged with clearance to allow for expansion. The convex shape of the baffle also allows expansion to occur without undue restraint.
