Abstract:

To provide technology removing exhaust system foreign matter collected by an EGR filter while reducing cost and improving mounting properties in an exhaust gas recirculating device for an internal combustion engine.

This device includes a low pressure EGR passage 31 taking part of exhaust gas out of an exhaust gas passage of the internal combustion engine as low pressure EGR gas and recirculating the low pressure EGR gas to an intake passage of the internal combustion engine, a low pressure EGR filter 34 disposed in the low pressure EGR passage 31 and collecting PM in the low pressure EGR gas flowing in the low pressure EGR passage 31, and a retaining part 35 retaining the low pressure EGR filter 34 under a loose condition. PM collected by the low pressure EGR filter 34 is shaken off to a capture part 36 by vibration of the low pressure EGR filter 34 generated by flow of EGR gas through the low pressure EGR filter 34 and vibration of the internal combustion engine to remove PM collected by the low pressure EGR filter 34.
