Abstract:

PURPOSE: To perform accurate exhaust gas recirculation control as well as to make any abnormality in an exhaust gas recirculation control valve judgeable by storing a relationship between opening of the EGR control valve and output of a sensor detecting this opening, and compensating this relationship so properly.

CONSTITUTION: An internal combustion engine is provided with an EGR control valve 26 set up in an EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) passage, a sensor 46 detecting opening of this EGR control valve 26, and an EGR controller 62 controlling the opening of the EGR control valve 26 on the basis of output of a least this sensor 46. In this constitution aforesaid, there are provided with a means 1 storing a relationship between the opening of the EGR control valve 26 in one direction at constant speed for compensating the relationship stored by the means 1 at the time of specified driving of the internal combustion engine, respectively. Also there are provided with a means 3 storing the output of the sensor 46 at the time of constant-speed drive, and a means 4 compensating contents of the means 3 with the means 3, respectively.
