To improve manufacturing cost and weight of an exhaust gas system by using a collector device with an inlet pipe stab resisting bending.
The exhaust gas system includes an exhaust manifold 11, especially a plurality of inlet pipes 15, 16, 17 for connection to an exhaust gas outlet of an internal combustion engine, and a single wall exhaust manifold having the collector device 19 for connecting the inlet pipes. The collector device 19 includes an outlet opening connected to a downstream element of the exhaust gas system, and resists bending, and the inlet pipes 15, 16, 17 are relatively flexible as compared to the collector device 19. The collector device 19 includes an inlet pipe stab 25 resisting bending. High strength of a manifold structure is achieved by directly connecting engine flanges 13, 13' and the collector housing 19 resisting bending through the inlet pipe stab 25 formed as one unit with the housing 19.
